Description
The paper packet was the first type of packaging used by seed producers to contain seeds for distribution. It has had a long life as it is still used in the market although heat-sealed packets have attracted the interest of the clientele increasingly.
The paper packet is probably the best choice when:
- An economical product is required. The price difference between the heat-sealed and paper packets is due largely to the cost of the paper base (1 kg of single side-coated paper costs about half as much as the same weight of poly-coated paper);
- You wish to market special lines of packets identified as “Organic”. This option often goes hand in hand with the desire not to use any kind of plastic material and to make a small contribution to protecting the environment, possibly using ecological or recycled paper or paper produced simply from controlled deforestation (FSC and PEFC), a practice which is becoming increasingly common and appreciated.
It can be combined with a double poly-coated packet or even combined with aluminium on the inside for better containment and protection of particularly fine or delicate products such as flower seeds for example.
